The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Secretary of State for Health and the Secretary of State for Wales, acting jointly, in relation to England and Wales, and the Secretary of State for Scotland in relation to Scotland, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 6(4), 16(1), 17, 26(2) and (3) and 48(1) of the Food Safety Act 1990[1] and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, after consultation in accordance with section 48(4) of that Act with such organisations as appear to them to be representative of interests likely to be substantially affected by the Regulations, hereby make the following Regulations: Title and commencement 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Eggs (Marketing Standards) (Amendment) Regulations 1998 and shall come into force on 18th August 1998. Amendment of the Eggs (Marketing Standards) Regulations 1995 2. The Eggs (Marketing Standards) Regulations 1995[2] shall be amended by inserting in the Schedule (Community provisions), at the end of paragraph 2, in column 1 (Regulations of the European Communities) and column 2 (Official Journal of the European Community: References) the following entries -
(This note is not part of the Regulations) These Regulations further amend the Eggs (Marketing Standards) Regulations 1995 ("the principal Regulations") and apply to Great Britain. The Regulations make provision for the enforcement and execution of Commission Regulation (EC) No. 505/98 amending Regulation (EEC) No. 1274/91 introducing detailed rules for implementing Council Regulation (EEC) No. 1907/90 on certain marketing standards for eggs (regulation 2). Regulation (EC) No. 505/98 is concerned with record keeping requirements and supervision in the case of eggs marketed with an indication of the type of farming used. No Regulatory Appraisal has been prepared in respect of these Regulations.
