The National Assembly for Wales, being designated[1] for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[2] in relation to the common agricultural policy of the European Community, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by that section, and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, makes the following Regulations: Title, application and commencement 1. These Regulations are called the Cattle Database (Amendment) (Wales) Regulations 2002; they apply to Wales and come into force on 11th February 2002. Amendment to the Cattle Database Regulations 1998 2. In so far as they apply to Wales, the Cattle Database Regulations 1998[3] are amended by substituting for the number "7" in regulation 7(e) the number "3". Signed on behalf of the National Assembly for Wales under section 66(1) of the Government of Wales Act 1998[4] Carwyn Jones Assembly Secretary 8th February 2002 (This note is not part of the Regulations) These Regulations, which apply to Wales, amend the Cattle Database Regulations 1998 (S.I. 1998/1796) as far as they concern the period within which a keeper must give notification to the National Assembly for Wales of the movement of cattle. The effect of the amendment made by the Regulations is to reduce the period within which notification of movements of cattle must be posted or made by electronic means to the National Assembly from seven to three days (regulation 2). This is in accordance with the requirements of the second indent of Article 7.1 of Regulation (EC) No. 1760/2000 establishing a system for the identification and registration of bovine animals (OJ No. L204, 11.8.2000, p. 1).
