The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development[1] in exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 19(1), 124(1) and (2) of the Fisheries Act (Northern Ireland) 1966[2], and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations: Citation and commencement
Interpretation
3. Subject to regulation 4, fishing for scallops in Northern Ireland inshore waters is prohibited -
(b) during the period commencing at 5 a.m. on each Saturday and ending
at 5 a.m. on the next following Monday.
4. The prohibition contained in regulation 3 shall only apply to -
(b) fishing from a British fishing boat.

These Regulations prohibit the fishing for scallops in Northern Ireland inshore waters during the hours specified. These Regulations only apply to fishing by a British fisherman or from a British fishing boat. A person who commits an offence under section 124 of the 1966 Act, shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale (£5,000).
