The Department for Culture, Arts and Leisure[1] in exercise of the powers
conferred by Sections 15(1) and 19(1) of the Fisheries Act (Northern Ireland)
1966[2] and now exercisable by it[3], and of every other power enabling
it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations: -
Citation and commencement
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Eel Fishing (Licence Duties)
Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2000 and shall come into operation on 1st
January 2001.
Licence Duties
2. There shall be payable to the Fisheries Conservancy Board for
Northern Ireland by way of licence duties in respect of licences for the
use of fishing engines for the taking of eels referred to in column 1 of
the Schedule the amounts respectively specified in column 2 of the Schedule.
Revocation
3. The Eel Fishing (Licence Duties) Regulations (Northern Ireland)
1999[4] are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations.)
These Regulations increase the licence duties payable from 1st January
2001 to the Fisheries Conservancy Board for Northern Ireland in respect
of licences for the use of fishing engines for the taking of eels. The
new duties and the size of the increases are set out below.
